Leonhart has performed with Steely Dan since 1996, recording two albums with them, including 2000’s Grammy winning Album of the Year “Two Against Nature” on which he was a featured soloist, arranger, and conductor. He co-produced Donald Fagen’s fourth solo album.
Come On, Come Over – Jaco Pastorius
An influential jazz musician, composer, big band leader and electric bass player; Jaco Pastorius was all of these and more at a young age. Best known for his work with Weather Report between 1976 and 1981, also working with the likes of Joni Mitchell, Pat Metheny along with his own solo projects.
Stretchin’ Out (In a Rubber Band) – Bootsy Collins
From “Stretchin’ Out In Bootsy’s Rubber Band” (1975). Before he started his solo career with / without Bootsy’s Rubber Band, Bootsy famously played in James Brown‘s band and The P-Funk Mob.
Smack ’em – Ghost-Note
A band, formed and lead by percussionist Nate Werth and drummer Robert “Sput” Searight, both from Snarky Puppy. Originally a duo, strongly percussion/drum determined, with varying featured and guest artists, they developped since 2015 to a fusion band including elements of Hip-Hop and other genres, giving more room for the fellow musicians including Dywane Thomas Jr., also known as MonoNeon, is an American bassist, experimental musician and songwriter or guitar talent Brandon Niederaur.

Shine It – Medeski, Martin & Wood
Medeski Martin & Wood is an avant-jazz-funk band formed in 1991, consisting of John Medeski on keyboards, Billy Martin on drums, and Chris Wood on bass. The band is influenced by musical traditions including funk and hip hop and is known for an unconventional style sometimes described as “avant-groove”.
Big Schlepp – Dave Pike Set
David Samuel Pike was a jazz vibraphone and marimba player. He learned drums at the age of eight and was self-taught on vibes. Pike made his recording debut with the Paul Bley Quartet in 1958. He began putting an amplifier on his vibes when working with flautist Herbie Mann in the early 1960s. By the late 1960s, Pike’s music became more exploratory, contributing a unique voice and new contexts that pushed the envelope in times remembered for their exploratory nature.
Right On – Boogaloo Joe Jones
Jones recorded several albums in a soul-jazz vein for Prestige between 1966 and 1978. In addition to leading his own group for recording purposes, Ivan Jones recorded with Richard “Groove” Holmes, Houston Person, Harold Mabern,Rusty Bryant, Charles Earland and Bernard “Pretty” Purdie are among the sidemen also featured on Jones’ albums. His sound and style clearly derived from the blues, but it was a solid understanding of rock that Jones brought to his style of jazz. He was influenced most by Tal Farlow and Billy Butler, but gravitated toward the rhythm and blues-styled jazz Butler was popularizing with organist Bill Doggett’s combo. Jones’ sound and style stayed remarkably consistent during his recording career.
Love Will Find a Way – Jimmy Ponder
began playing with Earland at 17 and in the following years with Lou Donaldson, Houston Person, Donald Byrd, Stanley Turrentine and Jimmy McGriff. The track is from “All Things Beautiful” from 1978.
Steppin’ Out – The 13th Floor
Behind this project was Oliver Sain, american producer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist (keyboards, saxophone, drums). Oliver Sain was, mainly, remembered for his fine sax playing.

Middle Name Dance Band took over Brisbane’s Bearded Lady in West End for a fortnightly residency. “Weekend Love Chant” is a slow jam, baby-making, soulfully sultry groove and was the crowd favourite at this Middle Name Dance band residency.
Viva Bass & Drums – Max Middleton
Collaborated in lots of recordings including Jeff Beck, The Bee Gees, Peter Frampton, Chris Rea and worked with the producer George Martin on the film soundtrack of Sergeant Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band.
